May 3 Readings

RE: Alternative Routes for the Ride-On 70.

Traffic is getting heavy and congested on Rte 355 (NIH/Bethesda Naval) area. To make matters worse, by September 2011, when DOD combines the staff from Walter Reed with Bethesda Naval, traffic congestion will get terrible. There will obviously be more ridership on Ride-On 70 bus, and traffic congestion could be a nightmare.

To alleviate the problem, I suggest that Montgomery County have two express bus routes for the current Rider-On 70 with the same schedule and same route (in Germantown and Bethesda):

AM
1) from Germantown Milestone to NIH express
2) from Germantown to Bethesda Transit Center (via Old Georgetown Road) express

PM
1) from NIH to Germantown Milestone express
2) from Bethesda Transit Center (via Old Georgetown Road) to Germantown Milestone express.

If you want your voice to be heard, please email Montgomery County Council the url is: county.council@montgomerycountymd.gov

On your email, please give your daytime phone number, name and Ride-On bus 70 and the above mentioned AM and PM routes. The more email that Montgomery County Council receive, the more attentive they will be to our needs as commuters.

OR

If someone can come up with a boiler plate email letter that we could send to Montgomery County Council, please blog me. I have created a blog Rideon70 with links to news on Ride On 70, news links, weather, etc, news related to Walter Reed, NIH, etc....

Then those who are interested in getting this can blog me and from the blog you can get the boiler plate to send to the county.

This letter is to get as many people as we can to get our voices heard before Montgomery County Council about the traffic problem at NIH/355 Corridor. Your email addresses will be kept in confidence.

Great blog...its good we all unite and have a voice. We're all doing our part using public transportation and easing traffic. I am hoping our elected officials listen to our suggestions and concerns.
